Forest Hill Tutoring is offering introductory English, Math, Science and French summer programs following the Ontario Curriculum. The weekly sessions are Monday to Friday during July and August. There is a maximum of four students per session. Refreshments are provided.

The primary programs will focus on basic English skills: phonics, spelling,
reading comprehension, creative writing and printing. From grades four to
six, the courses feature vocabulary exercises, grammar skills, spelling,
creative writing and reading comprehension in short stories and poetry.

The primary courses cover addition, subtraction, measurement, place value,
geometric shapes and figures, time, money, organizing data and word
problems. The grade four to six levels include multiplication, division,
fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, percent, rate, ratio, measurement,
geometric concepts, capacity, volume, mass, word problems, graphs and
organizing data.

Students will have opportunities to develop their writing skills in areas such
as the expository essay, personal narrative, persuasive writing, journals,
reports and speeches with emphasis on the proper use of grammar,
punctuation and sentence structure.

Students will be introduced to the skills required for essay writing at the
university level. Designed for high school students, the course examines
research skills, thesis structure and bibliographies.

The four programs will help students develop the following skills:
Grade 7: fractions, ratio and rates, percent, integers (order of operations),
algebra, geometry, perimeter and area.
Grade 8: fractions, ratio and rates, percent, integers, algebra and 3-D
geometry.
Grade 9: exponents, powers, order of operations with whole numbers,
decimals and integers, ratio, rate and percent, algebra (monomials,
polynomials), word problems (using equations), linear and non-linear
relations, analytical geometry and statistics.
Grade 10: linear systems, analytical geometry, polynomials (factoring),
quadratic functions (graphing), quadratic equations (factoring, quadratic
formula) and trigonometry.

chemistry, earth and space science and physics.

This program covers electricity and magnetism, biology, ecology, weather,
introductory physics and basic chemistry.

Students will be introduced to nomenclature, the periodic table, molecular
structure, stoichiometry, solution chemistry and simple gas laws.
Ø Monday-Friday 2p.m.-4p.m.
Topics such as speed, velocity, acceleration, electrical circuits, conservation
of energy, circular motion, momentum, waves and light are studied.
Ø Monday-Friday 4p.m.-6p.m.
Core knowledge will be emphasized, including biochemistry, cellular
structure, reproduction, the human body, genetics and ecology.

Topics such as organic chemistry, atomic and molecular structure, energy
